Charlene Burton-Betts from the Peaceful Trust presented Sharon Baum from the Cornwater Club Charity shop with a cheque for £1000, the result of a collaboration to collect donated furniture.
Just over a year ago The Cornwater Club Charity Shop formed a partnership with the Peaceful Trust which enabled them to offer the free collection of large pieces of furniture from donors in Mansfield and the surrounding areas including Blidworth and Ravenshead. The Cornwater Club Charity shop, established eight years ago, sells a variety of high quality second hand goods, making a major contribution to the sustainability of the Cornwater Club, an older people’s charity. However, due to limited space the shop does not have the facility to handle large items. Under the partnership, the Trust collects the furniture and sells it through their larger outlets.
Trustee Charlene Burton-Betts from the Peaceful Trust said “ The Trust are delighted with the new working arrangement we have with the Cornwater Club. I’m looking forward to more collaborative and exciting projects in the future”. Cornwater Club Charity Shop manager Sharon Baum commented: “ This co-operation enables us to offer the collection service to our customers and we receive cash donations from the trust, so everybody wins.”
